Cultural Approach to English-Chinese Metaphor Translation

Abstract


This paper studies the approach to English-Chinese metaphor translation. It introduces two translating approaches, aiming to explore their uses in the metaphor translation. Following an overview of domestication and foreignization, this paper analyzes the guide lines of translating metaphors through a close study of examples. This paper also explores the choices between the two strategies, trying to find the tendency in using the two approaches in cultural aspect.
