Author Guidelines

Manuscript Submission

Authors are strongly encouraged to submit manuscripts electronically to the Editor in Microsoft Word format at: flr@cscanada.net; flr@cscanada.org. Hardcopy submissions should be sent to the Editor at the address below.

Language

Please write your text in good English (American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of these).

 

Referees

Please submit, with the manuscript, the names, addresses and e-mail addresses of three potential referees. Note that the editor retains the sole right to decide whether or not the suggested reviewers are used.

 

Essential title page information

• Title. Concise and informative. Titles are often used in information-retrieval systems. Avoid abbreviations and formulae where possible.

• Author names and affiliations. Where the family name may be ambiguous (e.g., a double name), please indicate this clearly. Present the authors' affiliation addresses (where the actual work was done) below the names. Indicate all affiliations with a lower-case superscript letter immediately after the author's name and in front of the appropriate address. Provide the full postal address of each affiliation, including the country name and, if available, the e-mail address of each author.

• Corresponding author. Clearly indicate who will handle correspondence at all stages of refereeing and publication, also post-publication. Contact details must be kept up to date by the corresponding author.

 

Abstract

A concise and factual abstract with 300-500 words is required. The abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research, the principal results and major conclusions.

Key words

Immediately after the abstract, provide a maximum of 6 keywords, using British spelling and avoiding general and plural terms and multiple concepts (avoid, for example, 'and', 'of'). Be sparing with abbreviations: only abbreviations firmly established in the field may be eligible. These keywords will be used for indexing purposes.

Cover Letter

A cover letter should include:

  • the article title
  • the name of the journal
  • the full names of all authors, clearly indicating the corresponding author
  • the authors' affiliations in full
  • correspondence details
  • suggested reviewers; providing the name, email address and telephone number
  • an explanation of why the manuscript is of interest to the journal and what is novel about it (some journals call this a statement of relevance)
  • number of figures
  • number of tables
  • number of words

If the manuscript has been previously submitted to the journal, state the manuscript ID of the previous submission.

Confirm that the manuscript has been submitted solely to the journal and that it is not published, in press, or submitted elsewhere.

Confirm that all the research meets the ethical guidelines, including adherence to the legal requirements of the study country.

Confirm that you have prepared:

  • (a) complete text
  • (b) complete text suitable for anonymous review (see our guidance on anonymous peer review)

 

Do you have any conflict of interest? If yes, please state.

Confirm that you have seen, read, and understood our guidelines on copyright.

Confirm that the names of all the co-authors have been included in the manuscript and that these co-authors all had an active part in the final manuscript.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. 1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

    2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.

    3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.

    4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 10-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

    5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.

    6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

 

Copyright Notice

The authors agree that:

1. Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance.

2. The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.

3. An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

4. Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors.

5. When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper. If the editor or the publisher learns from a third party that a published work contains a significant error, it is the obligation of the author to promptly retract or correct the paper or provide evidence to the editor of the correctness of the original paper.

6. The author assigns, conveys, and otherwise transfers all rights, title, interest, and copyright ownership in this “Work” to our journal when the “Work” is accepted for publication. “Work” means the material submitted for publication plus any other related material submitted.

7. The assignment of rights to our journal includes but is not expressly limited to rights to edit, publish, reproduce, distribute copies, prepare derivative works, include in indexes or search databases in print, electronic, or other media, whether or not in use at the time of execution of this agreement, and claim copyright in said work throughout the world for the full duration of the copyright and any renewals or extensions thereof.

8. If the authors cannot obey the previous terms and cause legal problems, the authors will take the full responsibilities.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

 

Author Fees

This journal charges the following author fees.

Authors are required to pay an Article Submission Fee as part of the submission process to contribute to review costs.

If you do not have funds to pay such fees, you will have an opportunity to waive each fee. We do not want fees to prevent the publication of worthy work.
