Une Analyse sur Deux Relations dans la Carte et le Territoire de Michel Houellebecq
Abstract
Abstract
Since romanticism in the nineteenth century, meaningless existence is an important theme in French literature. From “century child” to “outsider”, people are suffering from this painful torture of survival status. Since the absurd theater of twentieth century and the new novel, meaningless anxiety is marked by colors of numbness and coldness. The Map and the Territory reflects the profound consideration of Michel Houellebecq on the reason for being of the modern consumer society. By description of the hero, Michel Houellebecq invites readers to reflect on the situation of modern survival. In a money-first, rapid-consumption society, numbness and apathy of Jed are also the numbness and apathy of our ordinary people.
